Rep. Bruce Poliquin (R-CD2) is urging Mainers to switch from buying Nike sneakers to New Balance footwear. New Balance is headquartered in Boston and has a factory in Maine that employs hundreds of workers.

Nike is losing business ever since deciding to paint failed quarterback Colin Kaepernick as a national hero in a new ad campaign.

Mainers are justified in switching from Nike to New Balance. And they’re equally justified boycotting Levi Strauss and purchasing more LL Bean products.

Levi’s recently launched a gun-grabbing campaign, violating your 2nd Amendment and criticizing the National Rifle Association.

And while these boycotts are certainly principled — in the debut episode of a new weekly feature to Maine First Media — podcaster, Sean Ross Still, poses the question, why wait for a national boycott to focusing on buying Maine?
Will Aquafina have to come out against building the Great Wall of Trump in order to initiate a push for Poland Springs?
Why is no one urging Mainers to buy Maine Wild Blueberries? Maine Wild Blueberries have twice the flavor and antioxidants of regular blueberries. But yet Maine blueberry farmers are struggling. In fact, demand keeps decreasing year after year.
And why are they struggling? Because, Candian government subsidies make Canadian blueberries more affordable. So, why no organized effort to get Mainers to spend an extra 50-cents to buy Maine blueberries?
We have the best lobster and timber in the world!
Maine cheese, Maine beef, Maine potatoes, the list goes on-and-on! It shouldn’t take a boycott to encourage people to buy great Maine products.
