Gov. LePage supports the plan.

1/4/18, Maine First Media Staff Report,

The Trump Administration has announced plans to open most of the U.S. coastlines for oil exploration.

The move has united NIMBY (“Not In My Back Yard”) RINOs and enviro-whacko Democrats in crying foul.

To illustrate the point, Maine Representatives Bruce Poliquin (R-CD2) and Chellie Pingree (D-CD1) both have come out against the plan.

This despite not knowing where exactly the Administration plans to allow exploration and drilling.

Their opposition to the plan puts Pingree and Poliquin in the same bed as environmental groups like the Sierra Club.

Currently, only 6% of the coastline is open for exploration. According to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke, the proposed five-year plan would open 90% of the Outer Continental Shelf.

The administration announced 47 potential lease sales. Only two would be in the North Atlantic. The vast majority would be on the west coast.

The two North Atlantic leases would be sold in 2021 and 2023.

Governor Paul LePage is in favor of off-shore drilling.

The Interior Department will be holding open public meetings for locals to weigh in on where exactly to place the leases.

Maine’s meeting will be held at the Augusta Civic Center on January 22nd, from 3-7 p.m.
