1/23/18, Maine First Media Staff Report,
The son of a Somali Refugee in Vermont has been charged with attacking a 73-year-old volunteer with a machete.
The incident happened outside a homeless shelter in Burlington, VT.
Witnesses say Ibrahim also violently threatened others with the deadly weapon.
In addition to the attempted first-degree murder charge, Ibrahim is accused of vandalizing nearby vehicles.
After the incident, police report Ibrahim locked himself in a room, causing an hours-long standoff with police. Police reports indicate Ibrahim threatened to slit the throats of responding officers.
Ibrahim was not born in the United States; he was brought here as a Chain Migrant of his mother who is here as a Somali refugee.
This is not Ibrahim’s first offense. He was convicted of domestic violence late last year.
President Donald Trump has demanded Chain Migration be eliminated in any potential deal to legalize more than 800,000 DACA recipients.
