12/6/17, Maine First Media Staff Report,
With less than a week remaining before the Lewiston Mayoral runoff election, Democrat candidate Ben Chin is facing even more trouble.
Douglas Lane was convicted of sexually assaulting minors in both 1996 and 1997. Now he spends his time supporting Leftist Ben Chin.
The registered sex offender is on a list of activists volunteering for Chin. The Daily Caller was able to obtain a shot of the file before it was blocked. The list is now unavailable for viewing.
Lane also volunteered for the Leftist activist group, the so-called Maine People’s Alliance. Chin is the former Political Director of MPA. Lane was spotted in pictures volunteering at MPA events alongside children under the age of 18 — a clear violation of the law if proven correct.
Just yesterday, Maine First Media reported on several leaked e-mails from the Chin campaign showing the candidate calling Lewiston residents racists on several occasions.
Furthermore, back in 2015, during Chin’s failed Lewiston Mayor bid, Chin was called an “anti-Christian bigot” by Rep. Larry Lockman (R-Amherst).
Rep. Lockman’s comments came following a blog post from Chin stating Christians “dehumanize our neighbors, deny women their rights and squeeze the life out of the poor.”
Chin says the campaign has asked Lane to no longer participate in campaign events.
At this point, it will be up to Lewiston voters to decide if this is acceptable behavior from a potential mayor. And that decision will be made in less than one week.
The Lewiston Mayoral Runoff will take place December 12th. Chin’s opponent is small business owner and Republican City Councilman, Shane Bouchard.
