China has released three UCLA basketball player from detainment following the strong urging of President Donald Trump.
LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were being held in China on the suspicion of shoplifting.
The players had been held since Nov. 7th.
According to a senior White House official, the players received reduced treatment due to Trump’s intervention.
“It’s in large part because the president brought it up,” the official told Reuters.
It was originally speculated the players could be held in China for months.
The UCLA team had been in China for a game against Georgia Tech in Shanghai.
