Immigrants in Maine want more.
Not more assimilation mind you — no, more free stuff.
A family of non-citizens in Portland are demanding they be rewarded with welfare benefits, namely food stamps from the SNAP program.
State law allows for non-citizens, who have been approved to work in Maine, to collect government handouts on the back of working Mainers, while they look for work.
Which begs the question, why are non-citizens who can’t find a job, approved to work in Maine?
Open-border Leftist will tell you Maine needs illegal aliens, legal immigrants and refugees to add diversity to the state and to fill jobs there aren’t enough Mainers willing to do.
If that is the case, why do these non-citizens need welfare?
Fortunately, the legislature capped the amount of food stamp money to be paid out to non-citizens. The fund dried up in 2014. The program ate through more than $260,000 in less than one year!
If this family of non-citizens wins in Maine’s highest court, it will open the floodgates for any and all illegals in the state to receive free food — paid for by hardworking Mainers.
And of course, food stamps are just the beginning.
